So what? Regular Pokemon don't get abilities or items either so megas are still a flat improvement to their base forms in this game.

Unless they changed how weather works in LGPE, yes. There was no sun when charizard evolved into Y, meaning it's now just a less shittier Charizard, considering Rock-types have more options and two Kanto mons learn tactical pebbles

Slowbro and gyarados are the only two megas that aren’t horribly affected by the ability loss. Also Zard X may as well run special, or at least mixed now.
