In SM he just disbands it following the incident in ultra space, fights you on the beach, and leaves to train with Hala. In ultra, Hau makes him realize that he gained his Pokemon and the members of team skull through the island challenge and that he should move on to become something else. He then disbands team skull and shows up during Rainbow Rocket to save Lusamine because he still cares. He also becomes a title defense challenger.
