>>36324093I like it as a concept - a remake of Pokemon Yellow made for the 20th anniversary, but you are able to have Eevee with you too. The GO capture mechanics, while controversial with the main series community, make sense from a developer standpoint; Nintendo has always been about integrating the player into the experience via the controller and hardware. This is no different. But I don't like how wild battles were removed as a result; I would have settled for wild battles that had GO-style capture mechanics when you chuck balls instead of just pressing A.
The main complaints that people have made are more so a result of their expectations being absurdly high rather than anything else. "Why are the graphics so shitty?" Asking this to a developer that had shit graphics all the way through the first 6 generations? Seriously? Game Freak never had the best graphics. Don't expect AAA-style graphics from Game Freak. The graphics were also deliberately made to emulate the Gen I experience on Game Boy; cities, towns, environments, etc. could have been upgraded to HD, but who the fuck will feel nostalgia for heavily modified locations?
There is also the $60 price tag, which is understandable as many other high-quality games sell at the same price point. But remember: AAA and other developers resort to DLC packs (which can run for $10-20) because competition has locked them out of the higher price tags. In other words, these AAA games are actually worth more than $60, but developers are pressured to keep it at this price point because it would reduce purchases. Then they lock out content or issue upgraded content as DLC packs, charged at the higher price points until the game reaches its true price ($80+ for AAA-games). This game, with all of its graphical upgrades and integration with smartphone technology, should be at the $60 price point. At least Game Freak isn't adding DLC on top of this price point.
These are my 2 cents on this issue.
