Wow, this really troubling. Take a look at Charizard-X's black texture on his wings. It looks horrible. It's not even the same color as the rest of his body. You can even see the how flat the edges of the wings.

This is giving me concern for Gen 8 because, who ever does the textures for the main series at GF is terrible. Ga-Ole, Pokedex 3D, Pokken, etc. all have better textures and lighting. So, why is the main series running into these problems?

LGPE started development in mid 2016 after GO came out and became a phenomenon. Gen 8 started after SM were released.

The models are the same; it's the texture and lightning that will be different.

Those models have been completed back in 2012. They are final. It's the texture, lighting, poor baked lighting, animations that are completely terrible. 3D has been terrible for GF. Outside companies do a better job at presenting the Pokemon models than GF does.

These fucking hacks are so lazy. I’m not getting this game so I shouldn’t care, but It legitimately makes me angry how people that work for such a highly esteemed company can’t even be bothered to redesign a mountain from a 20 year old gameboy game to actually look like a 3D mountain and not a fucking tiered cake. There are fucking 15-year-old hobby modellers who can do a better job than this.

It's not the texture, that is the same texture and material as the body from what I can see. What is happening is that the normals or planar faces are just reacting weirdly to either their lighting or the ambient occlusion/baked lighting.
It usually happens on thin modeled planar surfaces.

GameFreak is extremely stubborn and refuses to accept outside help that isn't from Creatures because then that'd mean giving their helpers a cut of the profit, and hiring new employees isn't an option either because they'll just get stuck doing incredibly minor tasks until they've been working for a good 15-25 years so they'll be eligible to do actual work once the old fucks retire or die.

That rule no longer applies as of USUM.
A new generation is now defined by the main campaign taking place in an entirely new region as well as having its own batch of starters and Box Legends.
But knowing GameFreak they'll redefine this rule once again just to keep us on our toes because "haha pattern breaking :^)".

That rule never applied before either. From a technical perspective, new forms are new Pokemon also.

And from a logical perspective, adding a few mons at the end of the dex was never going to count as a new generation.
