Krookodile, on the other hand, is just as diverse but has more popularity, more variety in its moveset to choose from, and meme factor coming from similarity to Wario. Of course, now that K.R. is in the game, another croc may feel to lazy.
People who leap to suggest Zoroark need to remember that it's Gen 5 Lucario, and that that mon's popularity hasn't panned out from Brawl to this day. These "obvious" picks aren't guaranteed what the players actually want.
The ultimate truth is that Gen 5 still has a weak cast of Pokemon that even time and perhaps worse successors haven't bettered the image of. Unova picks are almost going to be weak no matter what. I think Gothitelle and Krookodile are one of the few hopes the region has of producing reps that may appeal to even non-fans of Pokemon, unless you count the furbait that is the Tricky Dark Fox.
