Can you complete the National Dex in Gen 3 between these five games or do you need the GCN spin offs and Pokemon Box too?

You can't fill the Pokedex entirely in Gen 3 without cheating.

Having the GC games is recommended for easier Johto starters and beasts. Getting a Johto starter in Emerald requires completing the Hoenn dex and you only get one. Beasts are also fucked since you only get one per Kanto playthrough but you have to save your master ball for them due to the roar glitch.

you cant get ho-oh or lugia, and youd need to reset FR or LG to get entei/suicine/raikou since you only get one per save file. thats just off the top of my head, theres probably more. oh and event legends but thats obvious

Yes, you can as I believe you are not required to have any event Pokemon or Lugia and Ho-Oh for the national dex.

Getting all the Gen 2 starters would be very annoying without Colosseum though.
