It would be stupid if they didn't care about their own species. The point of being evil isn't mindlessly destroying everything around you and hurting anyone. It's about cheating and using shortcuts to please yourself and your closest people.
We have literally no idea how Luxray behaves and if it is evil or not, but many similar Pokemon - canines and felines most probably act similarly are Dark-types: Meowth, Persian, Umbreon, Houndour, Houndoom, Poochyena, Mighyena, Absol, Purrloin, Liepard, Zorua, Zoroark, and Incineroar.
This is why I believe that Luxray could easily be Dark-type.
