>>36336945Those "nine random losers" were carefully selected by Lysandre to test Alain. They were all competent trainers; Lysandre wouldn't have settled for a rank amateur to test Alain. Alain still defeated them all with little effort, showing how powerful he was.
Alain isn't suddenly E4 level; he spent years with his starter, training just that one Pokemon to get it to this point. Charizard is to Alain what Pikachu is to Ash; a partner Pokemon that he always used until the end.
Ash only battled a few trainers with Legendary and Mythical Pokemon:
- Brandon. Sceptile and Torkoal lost easily to Regirock and Registeel, although they still put in a slightly good fight due to type advantage. Regice lost singlehandedly to Pikachu, though Brandon recently obtained that Regice, and Pikachu narrowly defeated it.
- Tobias: Darkrai defeated Heracross, Torkoal, and Gible with little to no effort. Sceptile only won because of getting out of sleep and a critical hit. Latios effortlessly defeated Sceptile and Swellow before tying with Pikachu.
- Gladion: Type: Null defeated Lycanroc with only modest effort.
>Including a full team with two pseudo legendary pokemon despite training only one pokemon.Alain needed a full team of six and he caught them only recently so he can participate in the Kalos League. He had a Metang of all things when he fought Ash. He likely caught the other Pokemon at low levels too. Still, they were about equal to Ash's recently acquired Kalos mons. Metagross and Charizard were the true threats of his team.
>Ash's Greninja was strong from the start No, it was very weak when Ash first caught it, and only got better because of Ash. The people who had Greninja before Ash were inexperienced/beginner trainers.
