Personally, i'd just give some gender differences so that DelphoxM had a bit of a beard. Not enough to change the design, just enough to different. Although i'd probably be with >>36337696 and do the hat and spice up the torso a bit if i were redesigning the thing.

The male braixen and delphox look like old men, they really shouldn't.
Delphox COULD have been good, but it feels rushed, I guess they just planned greninja to overwhelm so they said fuck why bother and gave the gold medal of mid evo to braixen for that gen.

Maybe because the pokémon evolving gains more power and fire control thanks to its psychic typing too.
So it doesn't need the friction anymore but just enlight it with its magic powers, just like a mage would do.
