More or less. At no point does it ever feel like an adventure like all the other games. You're just on one long escort mission. BW had a focus on the story, but that story revolved around YOU. Bianca and Cheren had their own little subplots, but it never really took anything away from you. The 'rivals' in XY were dumb fucks, but it was still 'YOU go on an adventure, while these one-note idiots follow you'. Then you get SM, which is 'Lillie aimlessly wanders around, while a sociopathic mute follows her'. It wouldn't be so bad if her story was actually good, but she has no fucking clue what she's doing. She just goes around the entire fucking region doing nothing.
