--You can now rematch Guzma and Lusamine as much as you want in the Title Defense, but now you can't rematch Hala and Faba. You still can't rematch Lana, Mallow, Kiawe, Mina, and Nanu. Not being able to rematch Hala and Faba anymore is especially bad for what's supposedly a complete edition.
--The Elite Four and Title Defense opponents still only have 5 Pokemon, except for Hau, Kukui, and Gladion. BW, B2W2, and ORAS all gave character full teams for their rematches, so this just feels lazy.
--The UB plot with Looker and Anabel was cut entirely, so they now barely exist in the game. Someone who hasn't played SM would have no idea what Anabel is doing there. They don't even get involved with the Rainbow Rocket plot.
-The plot in general feels half-assed, and there's few changes to maps and events. B2W2 was amazing as a full sequel to BW that followed up on everything felt incomplete about that game, while USUM feels like it's barely different from SM.
--New players are going be confused by some things without playing SM first, but people who played SM feel like several things were changed for the worse.
-There's still no National Dex. The Pokedex entries are still crude and poorly written, and they even reused entries for several UB.
-Even with Ultra Space and Island Scan, there's still some Pokemon that are completely unobtainable in Gen VII.
--And since Unown can't breed, that makes it the only non-Mythical that it's impossible to get a native Alola mark on.
-Outside being able to farm coins and raise your rank quicker, the Fes Circle is still shit and unfixed from SM. It's still poorly paced and makes it a pain to connect with friends.
