The Pokegear sprite is proof someone had Crystal in mind enough to get that far (could have even been that one pixel artist doing it assuming she'd be used again or just because he could, if you want to go full underdog), and readily as Leafie should have been in Alola she's not a perennial face of the franchise the way the two boys are. We haven't seen Lucas and Dawn in 10 years (wait really) but no one seems to think we've forgotten them.
