>>36350688The "Your Call" action allows the Digimon's AI to direct them to what attack to do, when to do it, when to defend, etc. As you train the Digimon's Brain stat, you unlock additional options, like Attack, Defend, Moderate (keeps distance and only goes in to do weak attacks, or relies on long distance or all-range attacks), Distance (keeps it far from the enemy, you can use this and Defend in turn), and Change (if there is more than one enemy). Once your Brain stat hits a certain level, you unlock the ability to tell them which specific attack to use instead of just one Attack button.
The problem is that the Brain stat is also part of a Digimon's evolutionary stat pool, so what it can become can be determined on how high this stat is. In other words, you may have to intentionally keep this stat low (thereby reducing your control over your Digimon in battle) in order to get certain Digimon (but there's nothing stopping you from maxing it out after you get that Digimon, mind you).
There are also items that force certain evolutions, but not only are they difficult to obtain, but reduce your DIgimon's lifespan.
