This is basically the explanation. Ultra Space just so happens to be an alternate dimension and overall world, and UB's come from said world through wormholes. They're basically Legends in everything but name though, but have no lore of people in Alola praising them like other Legends. Also they aren't limited to Alola as a whole, so they could show up in any set of regions. Legends with no designated region or major significance basically.

lore-wise, ultra beast is their only classification, though
sort of like how legendary and mythical are separate things now

If you can classify them as Pokémon you can classify humans as normal types who's special ability is to train others.

Reminder, basically the entire point of the last question on this official TPC-made quiz was to say UBs aren't legendaries and the Tapus and Nebby are.

I hope the concept isn’t abandoned because they are essentially inter dimensional alien Pokémon. I honestly hate them tho but I’m glad that they are something that exists because it’s different and broadens the horizon. I also think that Dialga, Palkia and Giratina are also Ultra Beasts technically.

TPC is not Game Freak. THey've had had an assload of stuff wrong.

Game says they're sub-legends just like the other lesser legends. If they're not legends then according to Game Freak, Zapdos etc. aren't either.

But to Game Freak they are meaning they all are, regardless of what TPC says.

They can't breed, all have a base stat total over 550, you can only catch a specific number of them, and they have that pokedex background that's also used for legendaries

They are legendaries in every way that matters

They are, the pokemon world just don´t konw it´s purpose in it´s universe, as black matter, people can´t explain it as a myth, folklore or part of the pokemon tradition, related to a nature phenomenon because they can´t experience it directly, but this doesn´t mean that they don´thave a purpose gived by Arceus.
