It's too late to merge Ground/Rock and Water/Ice into a singular typing. Otherwise both Rock/Ice are in essence just hardened Ground/Water in a more solid state. Just imagine if every Ice type became a Water type, but kept their array of Ice moves and had tweaked abilities. Would be fun.
