Story is very intrusive to the point where repeated playthroughs are a chore. ORAS has the best postgame in the form of the Delta Episode, but that’s really only because nothing else from the 3DS games have any sort of postgame at all.
TLDR - maybe give the games a shot, but don’t be surprised if you don’t like them.
