I like blue better for Bulbasaur too. The contrast between the bulb and the creature itself is nice.

Honestly I prefer Bulbasaur as blue.
Ivysaur and Venusaur are blue too anyway so it makes sense.

Maybe that rumor that Bulbasaur was originally supposed to be a water type was true?

Blue skin + Green plant + Red Eyes is a perfect combination too

Blue, which I guess because some of other poison pokemon also have colour blue as well. Bulbasaur is poison so blue seem make sense to have.
Also, green Bulbasaur is already in its shiny form.

the bulb is an alien, symbiotic specie that somehow got planted on an unnamed creature that later named as Bulbasaur.

Oak probably did that planting this as an experiment, perhaps why Bulbasaur is the #001 in his pokedex.

That's Pokemon Go, but he's not actually green in that game. Everything in Pokemon Go has a slight yellow tint for some reason. On most Pokemon it's not really noticeable, but it does push Bulbasaur from "green-ish blue" to "green".
