They were good, but not amazing. I liked Platinum and the Gen 5 games more. That's just my opinion anyways.

What hurt it for me was a lot of pokemon I wanted to use were not available until after the game, and it's mostly Kanto pokemon

Yea. The Level progression is a little slow but the games are still good.
Maybe those are one of my most often replayed pokemon games.
