To be fair, there were 20+ threads in one week, each far passing the bump limit by hundreds of posts, so it was burning non-stop, red-hot for the whole time. However, once the would-be lore and theories were discussed to death, the lost Pokémon were studied, and the maps were dissected in full, there wasn't anywhere else to go. TPCi and GF remaining 100% silent, without even anonymous, "totally legit" comment, prevented it from going nuclear.
However, because it broke literally one day after the LGPE announcement and trailer, it single-handedly squashed what hype there was instantly--no doubt there were some royally pissed off people at TPCi that week.
