I always wondered why Gold and Silver Pokemon felt more toned down for the most part in comparison to all the other generations

Now we know that they really were. I can understand some of the choices to drop certain Pokemon, but for some, the decision just baffles me

I wish Gold/Silver had a bit more spooks to it.
Red and Blue were spooks. Some of that came back with Mt. Pyre.
But with the entire ghost story in Gen1 and all that. All we got was some ghost gym leader.

Sad to see the beta had some ghost ideas. Not sure about the girafarig connection

A lot of people don't remember, but Game Freak bent over backwards trying to justify why things had changed between RBGY and GSC, like how the reason steel types weren't in the previous game were because they actually WERE in the around, just hard to find and super rare. They did this for all Pokemon: the reason the player never found these new pokemon before is because they were just really hard to find, but they were totally actually there though. Therefore, the new pokemon designs had to all lean towards things that could conceivably been easy to miss.

What, they have sprites and set designs, it's not like they're left up to the imagination. Tigrette, Madame, proto Girafarig, etc. are sure as shit better than trash like Qwilfish, Stantler, Igglybuff, etc.

Most good designs of Gen 2 (and there isn't all that many) got ruined by their movesets, their availability, or something else.
