I have no idea where we're going but I'd personally love to see a region based on the Nordic Countries. It would be a great change compared to the tropical Alola and it would also solve the issue of Ice-types always being stuck in the late-game since we could have Ice-types already in the first or second route. Maybe even have the first Gym be Ice-type. Basically it would be an excellent opportunity to break some of the trends that have persisted in almost all previous Pokemon games.

Dude unova was basically just another Japanese region.
The trainers even wore Japanese uniforms and locations were based on Japanese locations like the skyarrow bridge being the rainbow bridge and entralink being tokyo imperial palace.

Yes, and Japan is a real world location too. The first four regions were based off of Japan and it's possible the rest of Japan left untouched doesn't have anything interesting for another region compared to foreign countries. You only dislike this because you're more familiar with the regions that are based outside of Japan.

Basing and inspiration aren't the same but also if it really was based on then there are features like cities and geographic features, old buildings that the dev only knows were in AZ. Obviously from character it wasn't Mongolia or Saharah. At the same time there's nothing saying everything is a 1:1 location.
