>>36395463Copy a bunch of teams from more experienced players, and play a lot in showdown. Lurk in smogon's forums, there a lot of stuff you can learn by just reading random posts in there. Pokeaim's videos on youtube are also fairly educative.
When you want to make your own teams, stick with Smogon's premade sets at first. As you get better at the game, you should become less and less reliant on the things mentioned above. One thing you should always be using though is the damage calculator. If you're uncertain of how much damage an attack is actually gonna do, type /calc on the chat to open the damage calculator.
