In all seriousness a lot of pokemon will think about how to make their trainer happy. After all the trainer feeds them, pets them, heals them, makes them stronger, goes on fun trips with them and doesn't bin them even if they are a shitmon. Because of this it wouldn't be a surprise if they wanted to deepen their bond with their trainer.
Its kinda like when kids say they are gonna marry or have a crush on the teacher that has helped them a lot. This comnon around girls and boys in puberty because their hormones are in overdrive telling them to find a good partner.
