hey so. does LGPE have only 151 pokemon programmed or it has 151 available and the rest 808 pokemon are programmed?

I know about megas, but do we have any word on cross gen evos in the game? Seems kinda silly to have Scyther but not Scizor etc.

No chance of having all the pokemon in the code. Gen 8 is next year solely because of the time they need to animate all those models.

No it's only 152 Pokemon. The others MIGHT be programmed in as dummy data but you won't be able to transfer or use them.

I think he means animating them properly in battle on a system that can handle it in full. Plus LGPE's riding feature and such could make it into gen VIII. If Gamefreak weren't lazy fuckers.

i'm pretty sure we already heard it was going to be 151+1alolan and mega forms included, if that wasn't the case then they would've already revealed it just to keep older fans interested in the game, also i'm pretty sure we already heard there won't be cross evos, so for me is ''no gen 2/4 cross evo = no gen 2-7 pokedex'' except for those alolan and mega forms

But the battle animations have already been shown to be the same lazy shit from gen VII.

There's a good chance everything after the original 151 will be in the game's code. There's also the possibility they won't be. We'll just have to wait and see.

Regardless, we know for a fact that the models at the very least are from gen VII. They future proofed them for a reason, after all.

In let's go, sure. There's no gen 8 footage yet though and if there were, it couldn't be considered final being over a year away.
I know gamefreak is bad and lazy, but that's just further reason why gen 2-7 pokemon wouldn't be present on the game files.

We know they're not accessible. Masuda himself has said multiple times it's just the original 151, their alola forms (Which are only going to be accessible through trading with Go.), and the new Pokemon.

There might be dummy data but you're not accessing it without hacking.

Also that anon was talking about next years game in terms of animation. A game we know nothing about. Just because they're reusing the same models with new textures doesn't mean they can't shift around and fix the animation issues.

No it isn't, and there's no indication that it will have any ability to connect with any other mainline game, so if it's not intended to have any way to interact with any data of any other Pokemon, there's no reason for them to even include them

However, that said

You know damn well they're gonna reuse the same animations for gen VIII. It's one of the easier cost cutting measures they can take.

That said, just because Masuda says it's only the original 151 being "featured", which IIRC is the wording used, doesn't mean the rest aren't in. Remember, Gamefreak likes to pretend they can surprise us and gets real fucking butthurt when their games get datamined before release. They probably think they have a chance of catching us off guard with the first Switch release. What I mean is, they might be leaving anything after 151 as a postgame surprise.

I fucking hope so, at least. LGPE will be worthless to me if it can't give and receive Pokemon to and from other mainline games.

Fuck off, if the data is there that means DLC. It's already bad enough they're charging $50 for Mew, paying $120 to have all 250 is cancer.

This does make me wonder... Because, surely they can't put Pokémon Yellow with 3D graphics on a console and leave the rest of the cartridge data completely bare... Because that would be pretty half assed and this is coming from someone who is hyped for LGPE... OR/AS had much more content than Emerald, just missing the Battle Frontier, hell even X and Y had more content than what we have seen with LGPE.

I hope that the step back with graphics style and models may indicate something interesting... But, we can only hope.
