Returning features mainly, like

3v3 battles only, with speed based battle system like final fantasy tactics. the way speed works in pkmn is retarded in the sense that if you dont outspeed, having any speed is a waste of ev/iv/bst.

no pokeballs, only apricorns. work for your god damn pokemon.

all the new Pokemon are based on extinct animals. Not all of them would be reptiles, though, but they would have to be extinct to be a new Pokemon. Prehistory has so many cool and unique animal forms, it's such a shame that GameFreak opts to relegate those solely to fossils.

A double battle styled side game with main series features that has more story focus. A bit more mature themes, mc's with set in stone stories and a lot of new characters in a revamped/lot aged version of Alola.

Main feature would be introducing reburst feature that was a thing but forgotten a long time ago and make the whole plot around views of the people and the authorities about rebursting. Weather and battle effects also would get a major role.

Game would end with the champion (or in this case the frontier brain who is member of the goverments secret police) falling to coma after his last battle being too harsh for his body and the evil team leader (who was hired by the goverment) would frame himself so the public would not become afraid of reburst battling.

Tell the team to stop bending over backwards to please people who don't even care about Pokemon and make another Black/White style game. Expansive useful Dex with a few nods to old mons thrown in but mainly originals, actual characterization and thoughtful plot, a well defined region with lore and a banging soundtrack.

Stop thinking about trying to recreate RBY.
Just come up with 150 pokemon and design the game around them. Making new bird and fish pokemon are fine, but don't constrain on making the new regional bird, regional fish or recreating an older pokemon.
If the 150 pokemon couldn't fit within a conventional story, make an unconventional story. Colosseum handled itself well without having a normal starter selection, no wild pokemon and snagging as a capture mechanic. If the story has to be unconventional like this, so be it.
Have the player discover the story, rather than the story come to you. I'm not advocating absolute open world here, but I would dial the story back to RBY-RSE storytelling rather than BW-USUM storytelling.

First order of business
