Sinnoh has pretty weak story events, a type/mon distribution that will make you want to kill yourself, and no postgame. Platinum fixes all of this.

People usually hate on everything past Gen 3 (or gen 2 for certain people (or gen 1 for the extra special people)) but the physical/special split made for amazing new pokemon combinations. Platinum is if you want to have more story and plot while Diamond/Pearl is for the Gen4 experience. For the exclusives, Glameow isn't worth dropping the Murkrow line.

The only reason why Flint and Volkner didn't have monotype teams was because they didn't make more than 2 Fire- or Electric-type evolutionary families in DP's Sinnoh Dex. Both Flint and Volkner got monotype teams.

It happily works out better for Flint. Type specialists needing to use the same type pokemon (rather than allowing for complimentary moves or techniques) is a dumb framework that ought to end.

Man, the hype I had for these games back in the day was unfucking real. Shitty Coro scan discussions on /v/, checking serebii and 2ch every day, going to gamestop and playing the demo over and over.
Back when it finally came out I would bring my ds lite to school and play during classes in the bathroom. Transferring manaphy over from ranger. Trading all the starters over to myself from my brothers copy.

Skuntank and Purugly were basically just there to fill the dex. They have nothing good going for them, and are outclassed everywhere. As a matter of fact Gen IV was full of dex filler, the Regional Dex was a mess because of all the cross gen evolutions.
