Right now I wish I remembered the name of that one essentials game that used reborn sprites and tiles without permission, and was about a super special runaway girl and her super important and dramatic problems. Tries too hard to give the player a challenge. Probably because it releases updates once every year or so it needs to pad out the episodes any way it can. When playing it all at once it's not very noticeable though.

The characters are annoying, cliche, assholes, and I can barely remember their name let alone care about whatever angsty, melodrama they're going through at the moment. One of the shitty ass moments that happen in the game that's not mentioned here >>36420641 is when the suicidal bitch of a gym leader tries to intentionally kill you for some dumb shit or whatever.

I did like searching around the region to look for pokemon so there's that.

Here's probably the most bullshit sequence of events needed to get a Pokemon in Reborn

>get a specific key item (a Data Chip)
>go back to the fifth gym leader's gym after you have already beaten the gym leader and put it into the healing machine to fuck it up
>heal at that healing machine
>go to Route 1
>get on a Tauros
>deliberately faint your entire team and black out so you heal back up at the fifth gym's healing machine while still riding the Tauros
>save the game at this point
>navigate the area outside with the Tauros
>by navigate I mean "follow an invisible path or it will be scared off by a Venipede and you'll have to start all over again"
>eventually find some random ledges
>use the Tauros you're riding to jump up the ledges
>go into the cave
>save again
>interact with a machine
>the machine attempts to call Pokemon and then crashes because of all the stupid horseshit you had to do to reach the machine (not making this up)
>one wild Pokemon shows up anyways
>it's a level 1 Beldum
>this is the only thing related to a pesudo-legendary you can get access to for literally another 30 levels

Rejuvenation is worse, plot wise. At least you're important enough in Reborn. Rejuvenation is watching a literal mary-sue who can attract shiny Pokemon, is a gym leader, and has magical powers, and is a time-traveler, indulge in a lesbian romance with an insufferable bitch while you stand off to the side. And the Dev is an asshole who keeps trying to make impossible encounters in his game, and nerfing counters to it(rock rabbit still beat edge chicken, though). The only ""impossible"" encounter in Reborn is the garchomp, and you can easily raise up a F.E.A.R Donphan in Reborn.

Then you've got the orphans, who are old enough to be gym leaders, but not old enough to look after themselves in a city full of orphans(seriously who the hell is in charge of the crap shoot of a city, is there a mayor or some kind of leader because Adrienn takes over with no trouble at all. The place just seems to run on magic.)

The story is completely retarded and I stopped caring about it very quickly, but the gameplay is the best fanmade gameplay there is, challenge wise. The problem people have with it is that they are too used to getting everything for free in mainline games where you don't even need to try to get overpowered combos and legendaries and so the only difficulty is grinding. Like, seriously, people consider expshare unfair when it does nothing at all in challenging fights.

I don't think it's the worst, i actually think it's the best pokemon game gameplay wise. I haven't been challenged since i think SS, this is a step in the right direction. The world design is good but got annoying quick, the story is bad and i just tried to get every cutscene to be over with asap, just like the official games.

I remember playing Reborn with this and it was only a problem with the Grass and Ice Gym (Seriously, fuck who ever thought Snow Veil on a required fight was a good idea) and it was fine aside from that.
Also a lot of good Pokemon can still be found when you explore, finding event Pokemon, and is something /vp/ bitches about the core games lacking

The void scene was ok at first but it carries on forever. I enjoyed the chain of battles before it tho.

The kiki part was kinda dumb. She never felt that wise or sensei-ish to me, so the reveal that her inner self is struggling and regretful wasn't surprising at all.

I honestly think it has by far the best mechanics of any fangame. The fields are large in number and have a huge amount of effects tied to them and it blew my mind when I found out that using certain moves in battle in certain areas could change the overworld to unlock new paths.

The stuff about the horrible dialouge/characters is pretty on point though.

You're still stuck with using shitmons against opponents that have the deck stacked against you, like the only fun thing reborn does is small quests for a lot of pokes, gives them a bit of personality. Reminder that Reborn moved Magikarp to the very, very late game because Gyarados had the gall to be a decent pokemon, oh and Magnemite got replaced with the steel/elec pika clone in the last update because Magnemite also dared to be a good pokemon you could get relatively early.

Why is /vp/ so inconsistant? Reborn's story sucks, but I was expecting you faggots to actually like the difficulty of the game and how it forces the player actually explore. Apparently not.
There were only some cases of the diffuculty being complete bullshit (from what I had played. I played an earlier version and was forced to restart before the Ice Gym because of laptop issues) was the grass gym leader and the ice gym leader, the latter of which abused the fuck out of RNG, making my Magmar's lava plumes miss. But it's not like this is new since Elesa does the same bullshit in /vp/'s favorite Pokemon Game

Because if you got gyarados early the entire game would have to be rebalanced around you having 550-statted water flying bullshit while everything else is in 300-400 range. Either having gyarados would make the entire first half of the game turbo casual on the level of mainline games or every single enemy trainer would need to have electric attacks.

Sure, getting it right before the steel gym was pointless. I agree that it was overnerfed, especially considering you can get metagross much earlier, but before it was available very early. On Aya's poison field, entryhazards like spikes and stealthrock are effectively useless, since they inflict damage immediately next turn and are used up.Earthquake is drastically reduced in power, too. Earthquake does maybe 20% of its damage on a poison field. Here's another fun one. The field that you fight Cal on has a .90 modifier applied to water moves, and a .5 to ice moves. The worst field to fight on is actually the ice one. The gym leader there uses Aurora veil, which reduces accuracy on an ice field. If you miss with a physical move on an ice field, you take damage.

there was magikarp in the first version of the game, maybe first two. then ame was like "fuck magikarp you're not having any of them"
you can get them in the current version of the game but by that point it's lv. 1 magikarp when gym leaders are in eighties

Some of the puzzles are pretty neat, like the field ones. By field puzzles I mean game reacting to you changing the field type in-battle. There are some nifty things hidden behind these, like Mega Stones. At the beginning of Episode 18 you can find part of mountain full of snow. The game hints you can do something by displaying a message in overworld; change the field. Do that again in the cave you just found by melting away the snow. There's Blastoisinite there.

I really like those as well. Like the Rowlett egg puzzle was really great, both puzzle, exploration and aesthetic wise.
The Gible puzzle was pretty fun to find. I wish the game would implement more exploration/interactive stuff like that in the newer games.

It's the kind of city I wish Castelia City or Goldenrod would be, not necessarily aesthetics wise, but in the size and different places to explore or find.
Maybe one day we'll get a properly sized city in a mainline game now that we're switching over to the switch.

No, they're not. The only fucking way to deal with these overleveled bitches is to waste a slot in your party with Perish Song user, and the only good choice for that is a fucking Murkrow that only appears in one ward (can't remember which) at a specific time and a specific overworld weather not worth all the trouble.

Gauntlet of battles where you have to fight two double battles against 12 pokes and one single with six. Heals between fights but doesn't revive.

The reason is that the first thing that comes to mind when the average person hears "diversity" is less white people and more "ethnic" people. I remember this one image showcasing the diversity in Black Panther, for example. It gave a counter point to what was either a strawman or a troll -Black Panther's cast is not diverse because they're all black- by listing the actual nationalities of the actors.

The threat of the criminal organizations aren't their pokemons, but their plans as a whole; Magma/Aqua's plan of shifting the balance of land and ocean with Groudon/Kyogre, Galaxy's plans to rewrite the universe using the avatar of Time and Space, Plasma either use propaganda or force to take over Unova, and Flare sucking the life of pokemon to fire a Doomsday weapon.

The exception was the current crime syndicate, Team Skull, who were mere pawn of a much larger plot involving Ultra Beasts.

That and the diversity of cultures, sexuality, and religions; which might as well be a threat to the National Identity that has been built centuries ago.

If there's a wasted potential of any of this, it's the reluctance of not only addressing the cause of most of the societal problems (the wealthy and powerful pitting peasants against each other to secure their current social status) but also bring up the issue of identity itself; Identity Politics are a double edged sword that could easily backfire in term of human rights.

In the past, she's given the gym leaders' pokemon moves that they should not canonically be able to learn: for example, the original release of episode 17(?) had the typhlosion on charlotte's gym using energy ball, a move typh has never been able to learn. When players pointed it out, the moveset was reworked on subsequent patches and permanently fixed as of newest releases.

Typhlosion's case is the only one I vividly remember, but there have been others, I think a starmie and something else. Since ame doesn't really play pokemon games, she probably makes gym movesets on the fly, which makes it easier to overlook the detail that sometimes the mon can't learn the chosen move to begin with.

That's the problem with Team Meteor, the build up to the threat at hand

Sure Team Cipher of Colosseum and XD was a serious threat from the get go with their Shadow Pokemon; but that's because the entire story revolves around said Pokemon. Hell, it occurs under everyone's noses until the player arrived.

Meteor's just going around doing Terrorist and Environmental Damage just to make the Reborn Region uninhabitable was, to me, the most pointless coverup in the grand scheme of things, but also bring said unwanted attention to them as well.
