Well, his team is supposed to be animals typical to Russian taiga - owl, red deer/elk, mountain hare (Diggersby is a rabbit, but there is no real hare pokemon, so I chose the closest animal), moose (again, no real moose, Stantler is a reindeer), capercaillie (Unfeazant is a pheasant - close enough fit), and brown bear. Plus Normal is a pretty "bland" type by itself, don't you think? I'm not sure I can think off a better team without changing the theme or the type specialty.
