I don't think you'll see them anymore now that they're hesitant to add new Pokemon and less hesitant to buff old ones. Rhydon -> Rhyperior is only 10 more of a BST increase than Masquerain between Gen VI and VII.

I feel like people would dislike Electivire less if Electabuzz had ever been more common. Electabuzz is one of those supreme patrician mons because he's so out of the way in all the games, so when they do a big evo for him that gets a lot of exposure it pisses off the contrarians who liked Electabuzz.

Honestly, we're probably never going to get Cross-Gen Evolutions or Baby Pokemon ever again because of the backlash they caused. A lot of CGE's required you to trade and weren't accessible during the main play through otherwise, which isn't necessarily bad, just unnecessary. Baby Pokemon were downright retarded and tedious, but they're cute as fuck so it's a mixed bag. All the incense shit and whatever other methods were really pointless.

Shit, I'm just glad Yanma turned into an actually usable fucking Pokemon and had a cool design to boot. Bug/Flying is pretty bad, but Tinted Lins/Speed Boost is incredibly based.

The only exception is Accelgor and Escavalier since there's a mutual benefit to it.
