It's clearly a different evolution of Shellder, though.
Certain pokemon have odd quirks of evolution, and this is clearly one of them.
It's possible that it's just never been officially named since you can't battle with it.

Gloom evolves into Vileplume, Shellder does NOT evolve into Turbann, Shellder changes it's form into it.
If it was a thing, it'd be called Shellder - Spiral form or something.

Not necessarily.

They call it Shellder just because it has no other name currently, but it could very well be considered either a form or an evolution since it's part of an evolution.

Bits of us are viruses etc. We don't call them by whatever they might have originally been though, because they're different now. Same could be considered true of that "Shellder".

As already stated. its name is Turbann. It was originally a separate pokemon from Slowbro (and not part of the Shellder line at all) that you could catch in the game's beta; It was cut pretty late in production, leaving the glaring problem we have today with it still being present on Slowbro's tail. The pokedex was rewritten to (poorly) handwave it as a Shellder that evolved alongside Slowpoke when it bit it, but that wasn't the original intent.

That's all from the Gold and Silver beta. Slowbro was introduced in Red and Green. Let's not jump into conclusions and claim it was a separate pokemon all along from the start when there's zero proof of that.

Many of the 'mons from G/S were planned for R/G/B but cut before the deadline (hence the missingno. slots). We know there were 190 originally planned (thanks to an interview with Morimoto), and promotional artwork of a few (like Tyranitar and Marill) showed up long before G/S were announced. While we don't know the exact identities of all 39 cut 'mons, its reasonable to assume that Turbann was one of them, having been teased on Slowbro's sprite. Of course, when G/S/C DID actually release, it got cut again, as evident from the Spaceworld beta.

no it's not
its valid speculation but dont try to pass it off as fact like you did in the other post

also, yeah 190 mons were planned but as was evidenced by the recent red and green beta pictures it doesnt necessarily mean the 39 were carried over to gold and silver(including the spaceworld demo). Sure we know how things like the cut weedle evo or that cut kaijumon probably influenced ledian and tyranitar so I'm not saying your claim is impossible but again, it's in no way a proven fact.

sorry anon but that's just wrong. MissingNo is just a result of the games trying to read data past the last pokemon in the memory. There were 255 'slots' not because they had planed to add more pokemon, but because that's just because the software worked back then.
