Unless it's a theme run I wasn't able to do in a previous run (due to Pokemon availability), my initial run in a region involves Pokemon introduced in that region. Following that run, I do whatever I want, but I try not to have type overlaps, and I almost always nickname.

I did this for Ultra Moon, Mimikyu was the only Alola mon. Fuck the Alola Dex

I think type overlap is perfectly fine as long as the designs doesn't overlap. Having both Salamence and Hawlucha on your team is fine even if they share the flying type but I would never have Blaziken and Hawlucha or Braviary and Hawlucha on the same team due to their design similarities.

I do this in every first run. Second runs are nuzlockes. Third runs are rom hack nuzlockes where I can't use pokemon I used on previous runs.

I use whichever pokemon I like that can be caught in the game. I don't trade between generations 'cause that's gay.

Well it was hard to arrange a team for gen 7 that wasn't terribly slow, I'll tell you that.

As long as you count Alola forms as gen 7 pokemon, then yes, I only used gen 7 mons on my main campaign.

The only type overlap I generally allow is if I want a Normal type pokemon and I have a Normal/Flying type I want to use as well. I've also used two poison types before on an ingame team (Nidoqueen and Gengar). But it's rare because I don't like doing it.

Monotypes are fun though.
