>long answerIt's a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game which loses a lot of its mechanics, adds few new things and switches some of its focus from dungeon crawling to base building.
You don't have to worry about PP and belly meter most of the time. Exploring dungeons is easier but at the same time more tedious - Pokemon don't change between floors, camera is zoomed in too much and enemies steal items from the ground all the god damn time. The number of available Pokemon is so low that you meet the same enemies in numerous dungeons. Postgame is pathetic. Text speed is slow and can't be changed. Not all things are bad though. Building your own base is satisfying (despite being limited). Revamped move system is great - moves can be massively improved to make them overpowered. Inventory management and storage system are better than in all previous titles.
The story has some pacing issues but it's pretty good. Characters are interesting and some of the moments are honestly great. The whole thing may not be as epic and long as Explorer's storyline but it also lacks stupid elements (like unnecessary flashbacks and constant losing in cutscenes).
Music is very good and graphics are solid.
