What was your first impression of the UBs specifically revealed during the datamine? you know, when we had the image of all gen 7 mons but with their pixelated sprites instead of models so it was hard to make out what anything was?

I liked Xurkitree, loved Guzzlord for looking like some kind of powerful endgame boss monster, had no idea what I was looking at with Celesteela, and wasn't too keen on Kartana or Necrozma, but I really fell in love with Kartana after seeing its animation.

I think it's a minority view but I really dislike the designs of Celesteela and Xurkitree, and to some extent Blacephalon too. Worst kind of objectmon-ish art. Buzzwole, Nihilego and Guzzlord are cool though

I made this around the 1-year anniversary of the datamine, so this reflection itself is now almost a year old. Since then I've gained more positive opinions of Salazzle, Necrozma, and the Tapu. Also my initial beefs with Alola Forms as a whole have mostly dissipated and I now feel neutral to them. Maybe disappointment at no new ones in USUM made me appreciate them more.
Also my opinion of Guzzlord has gone back to 5/5 as it's the only UB to gain actually interesting lore.
