>>36441427I completely agree with this. You can see how DPPt tried to be a bit more of a challenge (more HM usage, Cynthia, optional areas rewarding the player with rare Pokemon or items, dungeons were more complex) but people bitched a lot about those.
HGSS has a lot of fucking handholding with Lyra trying to be on every fucking tutorial or explaining even the most obvious of things because "your friend xd" and Johto's Battle Frontier was exactly the same as Platinum, but people overpraise these games because of "muh walking Pokemon", yet they somehow completely ignore Pokemon Amie.
>>36441556>Gym leaders used only 3 Pokemon>Linear as hell>Optional HMs>No overworld poison damageI gotta agree the level curve is amazing and there are some challenging battles, but BW took one or two bad steps to a wrong direction. Don't get me wrong, I love BW2 as they offered a lot of new things and fixed some BW problems, but outside of the main story, BW weren't that great.
>>36441366>>36441382>>36441391To be honest, ORAS were really good games. Sure, they were also affected by the Mega low difficulty and the Exp. Share problem XY faced, but at least the level curve was alright, they offered a lot of new features (Soaring, Dexnav, Mirage places, Delta Episode), returning features (Contests, Secret Bases, Trick House), XY features (PSS, Amie) and those other features Hoenn really needed (more battle modes, day/night system, Physical/Special split, infinite TMs) and many legendaries and new Mega forms.
Yet people only hate these games because of "muh RNG postgame!"
SM were actually downgrades, but Ultra SM managed to fix them in a very nice way. Ultra SM's problem was that they were announced as completely new stories, but the story was virtually the same except they pasted two new characters here and there, and changed the final part of the games a bit.
