B2W2 are good, but they, just like BW, are a bit too linear and handholdy to be up with the holy trinity. That 10 minute fucking tutorial of Pokestar Studios takes at least a full point off by itself.

All FF games I know have a far more complex story structure, but as for themes, well, they often have a zillion themes as well, but a lot of them will deal with moral ambiguity as well.

I think youve forgotten how long the tutorials are in Platinum, in fact there were less interruptions/cutscenes in BW than in the starting towns of Platinum.

I just replayed both very recently and you're full of shit
Platinum also gives the player a lot more freedom than BW do throughout the entire game

i agree with your second point, route design in DPPt is fantastically layered with so many optional places to go and explore

but the first 15-20 minutes of platinum are a tutorial. i've also just replayed them both recently and so i know fully well that you just get led around or teleported places for the first 15-20 minutes of the game.
