I've always thought attempting to quantify the difficulty in Pokemon is fucking stupid because of varying playstyles and the variety of usable pokemon will lead to each player having a widely different experience.

Yes, it works by using the opponents Attack stat. Which means nothing if Houndoom can't outspeed it. Ultra Necrozma's Speed is about 210 minimum and as much as 267 which Houndoom doesn't come close to without luck or WAY overleveling.

Follow up reference for those who need it. Keep in mind +1 = a 50% bonus meaning it's Speed of 143 is effectively 214 at it's lowest possible at Level 60 with no IVs and a negative nature.

Yes, it can one hit easily with Foul Play but again, you can't say isn't hard if you got lucky or brought in ridiculously overleveled and/or competitive shit. OP is a retard as is anyone defending him.

Pokemon is inherently impossible to make difficult without making it bullshit like Reborn does (limiting you to shitmons and no reasonable answers to opponents until AFTER they're defeated, forbidding overleveling, making you fight incredibly stacked opponents either through sheer numbers or superboss-tier Pokemon, etc.) since you can just grind the difficulty away or find some exploit in GameFreak's pathetic "AI".

A Kadabra with Confusion, which could be obtained as early as before the Second Gym, is all you need to fuck up everything that isn't a fellow Psychic Type (which Dugtrio or Persian could easily outspeed and crit to death) until you can get your hands on Tauros and break the entire game.

An Ultra Necrozma at Level 60 (with the proper Speed IV) hits 178 speed, or 267 speed when the buff is added. In order for Houndoom to outspeed this without an item, it must be Level 100 with a perfect Speed IV, a To Nature, and must be properly EV trained.
So either OP put way too much effort into the story mode or they're full of bullshit
Im going to assume the latter

There are ways to cheese it if you know the game ahead of time, of course. Nidoking is actually better than Kadabra/Alakazam because of Thrash.
But future knowledge, more than anything, is already an unfair advantage. Abra sucked like Magikarp when I first played Pokemon, it wasn't until Sabrina on the 6th Gym did I see it in action.
