i liked these games when they were contemporary. in hindsight i can see more easily that it was lacking, but i expected Z to fix the issues with post game and the friendly npcs being pointless.

As someone who hated XY on release, playing it again recently and it's not so bad
You know ORAS was bad when the originals had more content and were better games overall
Sun/Moon nailed aesthetics but were lacking in gameplay, cutscenes were the worst
USUM can go die and we speak not of LGPE
I don't really hate anything post Gen 6, they're all just lacking.

ORAS I could slog through once, but SM was just too much and I gave up on the fourth island.
Didn't get USUM and I don't see myself getting gen 8.

The only games XY's story could be considered better than are Gen 1 and 2 which had no story. It is a nonsense, edgy cringefest more at home with RPG Maker games than in a billion dollar franchise flagship

Not an excuse and not something tolerated in the video game industry. If your flagship game looks and plays crappy, it doesn't get a free pass because you have 2D artists working out of their element. Get better programmers.

If you take this stance, that opens up that Megas ruined the Pokemon they evolve from by removing almost all reason to even use them. Iconic Pokemon like the Gen 1 starters are now fodder for the overdesigned shillmons.
