I didn't even use tail glow, I would encore their set up sweeper, use thunderwave, encore them again once the first encore wore off, and then bring in a good pokemon of my own. I would sometimes give it substitute so it could baton pass that to my best set up sweeper while they are encored. I also experimented with trick, but couldn't think of an item that was debilitating to them but didn't hurt volbeat. Best I could come up with was lagging tail, because unless they used a priority move, you still went first I believe
