It wouldn't work because of the massive power gap between the two series

Digimon are generally much more powerful, except for some legendary Pokemon (the ones who are literal deities) who put Digimon to shame

I was thinking the digital world starts to leak into the real (Pokemon) world and many Pokemon undergo a mutation that makes them into Digimon.

Three kids who just got their starter and pokedexes get lightning striking them and thus their own starters undergo said mutation (which they don't understand until later).

They get Pokemon across their journey who's own power gets affected by the growth of their Digimons power (so as to keep up with them).

Arceus (who's still god in the Pokemon world) has held off the link from the digital world for a long time causing them to never connect unlike the other Digimon universes until now.

It's pretty autistic how I've put that much thought into this but I digress.

What about a series where Pokemon start leaking into a human only world? Where kids do the usually thing like hide it from their parents, sneak it food etc.

Plot could be that the pokemon are fleeing from their dying word to the nearest dimension. This could be to much like digimon itself but I wouldn't know it's been almost 2 decades since I last watched it.

There'd be three digital types, not just one. They form a type triangle. Digital types don't have type interaction with standard types, only with themselves.

All digimon have one of these digital types and one standard type. For example, Agumon would be Data/Fire. The Porygon line would be Normal/Data with Z being Normal/Virus.
