Why make an entire generation of Pokemon that suck competitively? It's nice to grow attached to a certain Pokemon and then be able to bring them into wifi battles with you...AND ACTUALLY WIN. What is the rationale behind giving them all a bunch of shitty stats? If it's to prevent power creep, then they shouldn't have made the entire meta focus around the Tapus, or just made them equal to other generations.
