>>36480989>Lando defines the metaYou're late, this isn't the case anymore and hasn't been in a long time. Even at its peak it was just a really solid and lazy pivot and less of a standalone threat that the meta revolved around. It's still everywhere because Lando and scarf/sashlead sets fit on a lot of trendy archetypes, but "meta-defining" applies more to something like Zygarde that singlehandedly makes Screens HO disgusting as fuck.
>But Smogon has still made it clear that Lando defines the metaWhen? Who? Why? Take a glance at the VR thread, it's still S but it's being considered for a drop. The OU Forum Leader argued for S on the basis of the less seen Z-move SD sets, but even they admitted it could drop eventually given the meta. Who is arguing this besides /vp/?
>defines the meta and is nearly revolved around being able to check itNonsense and has always been nonsense. You don't need a dedicated counter to any Lando set except SD, which isn't popular and is more of a problem for stall and fat balance than anything else. Torn-T, Celesteela, Mega Latios, Tangrowth, your own Lando, etc. are all solid outside of stopping Lando and will probably find their way onto your team naturally. It's not "I need a Lando counter so I'll run Torn or Tangrowth," it's "I need a Zyg counter so Tangrowth, which also stops Scarf Lando" or "I need a defogger so I'll run Torn, which Defensive Lando does nothing to."
