1st time poster in /vp

ok ive not played pokemon since gen 1 blue,n64 stadium and snap and i want to play catch up cause i think soon there will be a full 3d pokemon open world game one day and i want to be up to speed

so.....the question im asking is which games should i play to catch up? i assume im not gonna have to play pokemon pinball on the gameboy right?
