He said it's the animation that plays when you encounter the growlite. The sprite starts mid-air, and falls to the ground. Reversing was only part of the manipulation that occured to make it look like a jump animation.

Yeah. Like in GO, Pokemon you encounter may jump around or do attack animations while you try to catch them, making you miss the thrown ball. This is why trainers now give you Pokeballs when you beat them, because having a LOT of Pokeballs is actually important now.

Amie and Refresh did. This is Let's Go Pikachu, where the only pokemon you're allowed to like and bond with is the franchise mascot, so everything else got their animations and expressions removed. (There's also an eevee version apparently, devil is the same just much less rubbed into our faces)

In GO the animations seem a lot more fluent, like growlithe would have a short animation before leaping. Other pokemon Jigglypuff would slowly float down after jumping, and flying or hovering pokemon (IE goldeen or skarmory) will go to the top of the screen or the sides

Go has unique idling, dodging and blocking/attacking animations for each pokemon.

For example Zubat makes a loop in the air occasionally while idling, and flaps erratically or moves from side to side to dodge and never blocks/attacks your thrown pokeball.

Diglett spins in place when idling and ducks to dodge - and headbutts to block/attack your pokeball.

From that video it looks like LGPE pokes only ever do that weird looking jump.

Because GO has a standard to meet.
Spinoffs - which is what GO technically is - don't sell well usually. So they kinda need to put in more effort to attract players.
LGPE doesn't. It has both GF and Pokemon name under it. There is zero doubt that it'll sell.

I think that Jigglypuff was using one of its attack animations. Still, I just want to know if Growlithe's jumping animation is the same in both Go and LGPE - i.e. that stiff and shitty jump in the OP that was taken from that video, or if it's a different animation to what it does when jumping in Go.

So I think either GF wants to ruin this game to have a excuse for making never ever games like this, or for the excuse to put more handholding into gen 8.

Anon this is less effort they've put on a 3DS Title. We've had games like Xenoblade 2, Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild (Which was also on Wii U) Splatoon 2, which at least have PASSABLE animations, GameFreak with the largest franchise on the planet, and a colossal budget can't make anything above Appstore level? If you actually care about GameFreak you wouldn't call this their best effort, because Gen 8 is fucking doomed.
