Not at all, I've always just played the main game and then played a simulator if I wanted to battle against others.

The butter for them is your early game mon selection
Your drink is the common pokemon experience all games should share
The steak is the post first few badges. And boy can they cook it wrong.
The mandatory side of fries are the new gimmick sidegame you may munch into
The loaded baked potato is the post game. If the steak didnt taste good. Better bet the baked potato wont be enjoyed.
