When I was younger I'd reserve it exclusively for the box legends, despite them becoming increasingly easy to catch for gameplay-story balance purposes. Nowadays I only use it for "that one" roaming legendary or not at all.

I use it against a legendary that's pissing me off and won't just get fucking caught. Usually one that has recover, is roaming, or some other thing that makes it a bitch and a half to catch.

I always use it against a roaming legendary. If there isn't one in the game, then I use it against the most annoying legendary to catch in the game (has something like Recover, Aqua Ring, Safeguard, etc)

As a kid, I always cloned 2 more to catch the dogs in Gold.

Replaying it recently I got Suicune and Entei legit, but gave up and used it on Raikou.

Used it on roamers when I was younger.
Last time I used it was on Deoxys in ORAS. Fuck that thing and fuck its moveset. Low PP attacks, Cosmic Power and fucking Recover. Fuck that shit.

I tell myself I'm saving them for a self-destructing shiny, but honestly, I don't know if I'd even want a shiny in such an ugly-for-99%-of-pokemon ball. Balltism, sure, but the appeal of a non-bred shiny is entirely appearance autism anyway.

Arena Trap doesn't work on Flying-type Pokemon and Pokemon with Levitate, so Latios, Latias, Mesprit, Cresselia, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Tornadus, and Thundurus all escape, not to mention Roar from Raikou, Entei, and Suicune.
The only fast Pokemon that can learn Mean Look/Block/Spider Web via Level Up in RSE is Crobat, and the only Arena Trap/Shadow Tag Pokemon in RSE are Trapinch, Wynaut, and Wobbuffet.
Why wouldn't I save the Master Ball for Lati@s, especially if I want to snag all the limited per playthrough Pokemon and items and transfer them over to a different file?
