Its always been nice knowing that even if I sell my consoles I still have the cartridges with my team on and the memories those games gave me.

there is nothing more satisfying than taking an old cartidge from 5-10 years ago, inserting it into console and seeing all your pokemon and those memories

this will be the FIRST GENERATION that lacks this thing
the cartrige will be empty as fuck and only nintendo switch will contain your data

anyone who expected cloud saves for Pokemon is an idiot. This has no relation to if the game will save to the cart or not either. Splatoon 2 doesn't have cloud saves either and doesn't save to the cart.

It's exactly the kind of thing Gamefreak would do to avoid multiple save files. By saving in the Switch, I can lend my cart to all my friends and we can harvest legendaries forever without sacrificing my save.

Right. I'm waiting to see how Gen 8 turns out. If things continue the way they are going, I'll just stick to the older games and QoL romhacks. I like to explore every nook of the games and to experience everything they have to offer, so I usually end up spending a long time on each one anyway. It's nice because I end up completing my Dex and transferring my main Pokemon up to new games for the post-game stuff. Makes for a cohesive adventure, like I'm traveling through each region on my journey.

I'm hoping that modders fix the games, so one day, we can play them on emulators without all the kiddy bs/casualization. Removing the rotom dex and replacing the bottom screen with the PSS, like in XY is the first fix I can think of, and that alone would make the alola games somewhat playable

Sorry for the dumb question, I don't know much about the Switch carts. Are they truly not writable or are games just programmed to save in the console? Does this mean Powersaves can't release a Switch version like they did for the 3DS, the Amiibos and PGO?

I've owned every nintendo console (sometimes several of a console for handhelds) since NES, and most other big consoles too, and none of them have ever broken except for one NES I had that got water damaged from being in a leaky garage.
