Rarest Pokemon/Items

I'm going to be starting US/UM soon after I finish the virtual console Blue and Silver and I'm beary excited but im curious since I've been out of pokemon for a while:
What are the rarest Pokemon? Is anything rare anymore? I want to complete the Pokedex in USUM eventually.

This. Version exclusive to Pearl only. Available via a Funfest in BW2 and Mirage spots in ORAS. Only in regional pokedex of Sinnoh so no trainers every use it. Not good in competitive so it's never seen. not even a meme like Finneon or Maractas so people don't even unironically remember it. If Johanna and Mars didn't use the line you'd probably never even see it in the Anime.

This gen's big rares were mostly fish, moreso because fishing was made tedious. Nothing like Feebas, but more like Relicanth or Sharpedo in gen 4. 1 and 5% encounter rates in particular patches of grass per route exist too, moreso because encounters take just a bit longer. Some only get called into battle by other pokemon, but desu these are easier to get than patch ones when you're set up for it because the calling mechanic goes a lot faster than regular encounters.

Anyone with a brain saved in front of a spot when it was bubbling and SR'd when it wasn't what they wanted. Bare minimum for bubble spot "rares" is 10% encounter rate. It's super easy to pawn stuff like Carvanha or Alomomola off on the GTS even for mascot legends because of no one bothering to just take the game's advice.
The only thing that's forced 1% wild is Larvesta in USUM as far as I know, not counting SOS summons.

SRing is cheating? Where in my post did I ever say "trade for this fish," I said you can trade the easy to find fish for mascot legends (typically for the dex).
But if SRing is cheating then you can just leave and reenter the area to respawn the bubbles, this is especially easy for Carvanha/Sharpedo.
They aren't rare, it's a flat out fact. The game outright tells you to fish in bubbles, they always have 10% minimum rate.

Yes, they're cheated encounters, not "cheated in" as if they were injected. You're taking advantage of something that's not part of the game's mechanics to boost your chances. Not sure how you could consider sring for shiny legendaries not cheating unless you're conflating all "cheating" with injecting. Area resetting is okay because the game does it on its own.
I did misread your post about GTS. The GTS is fucked though and you'd be abusing the whole concept of rarity by ripping off dummies to fill the dex with unequal trades. I realize nobody cares on this board but I have to say it anyway. The new gameplay is a clusterfuck of nonsense because of cute little fill hax like that. I hope all you cheaters can learn to really love the spirit of games after the solar flares hit.

It's actually more efficient than SRing in the case of Dhelmise and Sharpedo because it takes less than 4 seconds to do so while SRing takes upwards of 30+ seconds, so a player doing it "legit" would have far better odds of getting it much faster.
