I like letting all of my pokemon have a turn, switching to a different one every time I KO an opponent. If I keep it on set I always just take them all out with my first one and it feels like I'm neglecting the others.

You know that you can switch them outside of battle so that everyone gets a turn, right? And you can also switch pokemon in battle. It just uses a turn, like it should.

I've always used shift cause it was default, never bothered seeing what set was. I don't see what the big deal is cause you can still use the same Pokemon after KO with shift

Yeah, that's kind of the point. When playing in set, you have to commit or use a turn to switch. You don't get to just switch to a favorable matchup for free. You should try it. It's honestly more fun and makes movesets matter more.

I use Shift when battling weak Trainers I'd beat no matter what to better allocate experience, and Set when battling tough random Trainers like the ones on Route 210 and Victory Road, or important NPCs. If I'm on Shift and a battle turns out tougher than I expected, I'll always choose to keep my Pokémon in.

Set is just for shitters that overlevel monomon and don't care about the rest of their team.
That or for people farming trainer re-matches and wanting to skip the message.

Switch is for chads that understand type matchups and want to actually inject some strategy into the game by using all six pokemon they've caught equally, and efficiently.

If repeating that process that isn't a waste of time then I don't know what is, aside from switch training a very low level mon before getting the EXP Share, which is given to you almost immediately in the new games anyways.
