When someone takes up the mantle of battler, the fastest 6 anons to comment a Pokemon (with or without a set) form the team. The battler, that's referred to as the champ, gets to decide things like the tier (OU by default) and how Pokemon without full sets are made around what's actually said. Then, all the anons spectate on Showdown in each battle and can chat and comment and shittalk and meme and advise, etc.
