How would you feel if in Gen 8 Game Freak introduced a new evolution mechanic that made NFEs more usable? I'm not good with names, but lets call it something like Z-evolution for now
It'd work something like this:
>Take your unevolved Pokemon to some mystical location, like mystery dungeon's luminous spring
>Assuming that Pokemon meets all the requirements to evolve(level, items, day/night, happiness, affection, etc), you can interact with a stationary object and select them for "evolution" via a menu
>The selected Pokemon is filled with Z energy and evolves, but keeps its current species, but gains the stats of its evolved form
>Pokemon evolved this way gain a symbol next to their name in battle, indicating they have evolved this way (like Mega evolution)
>Once evolved this way, Pokemon lose the ability to evolve normally, but if it can still evolve and you want say, a Bulbasaur with the stats of a Venusaur, it can be repeated
>For Pokemon with multiple, or branched evolution, you'd be able to specify which one you would want
>Since that Pokemon can no longer evolve, eviolite will have no effect when held by a Z evolved Pokemon
Now you might be thinking "anon, what is the point of this feature?" Mostly for aesthetics but
>exclusive items/Z crystals could be better utilized by Pokemon like Eevee/Pikachu or Chansey's lucky punch
>keeping the original Pokemon's typing, like Bug/Poison Skorupi with drapion's stats
> keeping an ability that an evolved form loses, like Dragon with Marvel Scale/Shed skin
Like every new gimmick, they could hand out a Pokemon to introduce you to it during the main story, say a choice between Pikachu or Eeevee, as they are fairly harmless mascot Pokemon that a lot of people prefer not to evolve
What do you think, /vp/?
